How is the British Loose Leaf scheme more special than others?

There are so many extravagant claims to recycling that it's easy to go "green" with confusion.

Many of the statements you see can be entirely truthful, at the same time as also being misleading. Here are some examples you may have seen and some explanation of how we are different.

Standard Claim

"Contains recycled materials"

Yes, but how much, and is it relevant? For example, every ring binder using greyboard contains recycled material, because greyboard is only made from recycled paper. But if no other component is recycled we’re not impressed.

"Recyclable"

Sure it is, but unless some arrangements are in place, e.g. local authority collection, bins in offices for paper or toner cartridges, it probably won’t be recycled.

"Environmentally friendly"

"Environmentally preferable"

Precisely what do these mean?

The exact percentage of recycled content, by weight, is also shown.

Recycled means post-consumer waste – not just recycled during the production process. We use one paper made from post industrial waste, and say so in our specification.
